ROONEY ADMITS TO ATTEMPTING TO SIGN DIALLO FROM UNITED
Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has admitted that he tried to sign youngster Amad Diallo from Manchester United on a season-long loan last summer but unfortunately the move did not materialize. According to Rooney, he found the need to bolster his attacking options at the club and tried to convince Ivory Coast international attacker Diallo to join the Rams in the summer transfer window, but he has also stated that he still regrets that the deal did not happen eventually. Diallo was signed by Olé Gunnar Solksjaer for Manchester United several months ago from Italian Serie A side Atalanta but the forward has found games hard to come by at Old Trafford.
He remained at Old Trafford and continued his rehabilitation process. When the January winter transfer window came by, it was another opportunity for him to find another club and of course, offers still came in for him. Scottish Premiership giants Rangers tabled an offer to United to take the player on loan and everything was agreed and sealed so he joined the side where he will spend the rest of the season.
