NO REST
The manager of Manchester United, David Moyes, doesn’t think that Wayne Rooney needs to be given rest.
Rooney has played a lot of football for his club as well for his national side in the ongoing season so far and he has to play even more in near future as the World Cup finals are going to take place next year. So, some experts were of the opinion that Moyes should think about resting Rooney in a few games, but, the Manchester United manager doesn’t agree to them.
According to Moyes, Rooney is a rhythm player. He is one of those blokes who play at their best when they feature in each and every match.
Rooney’s form in the ongoing season has been top class. He has already scored 8 goals for Manchester United and 2 goals for the Three Lions this season. Apart from that, he has assisted 15 goals too.
Talking to the reporters about Rooney on Friday, Moyes said, “I don’t think we should rest Wayne. He should play in each and every game. When he makes regular appearances, he gets into his groove and performs at his very best.”
“The only thing which I have to ensure is that he continues performing the same way. As long as he is doing that, I am not bothered about his workload.”
In United’s most recent match against Bayer Leverkusen, Rooney was at his destructive best. He set up a total of 4 goals in that game and helped the Red Devils win by a huge margin of 5-0. With that win, United made it to the Champions League knockouts.
The Red Devils had entered that match against Leverkusen without a few of their vital players including the skipper Nemanja Vidic. They needed a special effort from Rooney and the big man delivered big time.
