The star striker of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney, has said that he is ready to start the new season with a bang. Rooney has joined the Manchester United squad a bit late in this season.  He had taken a break after playing in the Euro Cup 2012. He has joined the United squad just a few days ago. He played for United in the pre season friendly match against Valerenga. He played for 76 minutes in that match and looked in good touch.

Rooney said that he has been practicing with the team since the last few days. His body is in a good shape right before the start of the season and he is looking forward to play in the upcoming season.  Rooney is also supposed to play in the friendly match against Barcelona. On being asked about the Barcelona team, Rooney said that Barcelona is one of the most dangerous teams in the world. There are some heavyweight players in the Barcelona squad including David Villa, Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas. On the other hand, United is also not a weak team. So, the match against Barcelona is going to be very interesting. As per Rooney, he likes playing against big teams and he would like to make a mark in the match against Barcelona.

Rooney has been criticized a lot for his poor performance in the quarter final match against Italy in the Euro cup. England lost that match in the penalty shootout. On being asked about that, Rooney said that he has put that defeat out of his mind now. He is here to play for his club and he doesn’t want to think about the previous tournaments. On being asked about United’s chances in the upcoming season, the English superstar said that the club has added some talented players in the squad this summer and the team would definitely perform better than the last season.
